About Alba Cruz-Hacker
Alba Cruz-Hacker is the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), and the President of the Association’s charitable arm, the HNBA VIA (\"Vision in Action\") Fund. Founded in 1972, the HNBA is the national nonprofit organization that represents the interests of over Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal assistants, law students, and legal professionals in the United States and its territories. The organization also advocates on issues of importance to the 62.1 million people of Hispanic heritage living in the United States. A transformative and dedicated leader, Alba joined the HNBA in 2013, bringing her experience and leadership in organizational operations and management, business and program development, and public relations and strategic communications. At HNBA/VIA, Alba is charged with conducting and overseeing all aspects of the joint enterprise’s daily operations, including the management of the staff, volunteers, programs, conferences, events, and initiatives, as well as the cultivation of external and internal relations. She oversees all financial operations and works with the HNBA Executive Committee, HNBA Board of Governors, and HNBA VIA Fund Board of Directors on all executive-level decisions regarding the organization. Since taking the helm of the organization, HNBA/VIA has grown over 1300% in cash and cash equivalents. Prior to her current roles, Alba served as Senior Director of Development and Special Projects for the General Consulate of the Dominican Republic in the U.S. Western Region, with a 13-state jurisdiction, and also worked as an Adjunct and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California Riverside and the UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree (high honors) from the California State University San Bernadino and a master’s degree (with distinction) from the University of California Riverside.
