ABOUT ALAYNA COLEATES
As a junior at The George Washington University double majoring in International Affairs and Information Systems, I bring hands-on experience at the intersection of diplomacy, policy, and regional development. My experience as a YES Abroad scholar in Bosnia and Herzegovina sparked a lasting commitment to U.S-Balkan relations and cross-cultural dialogue. That foundation has since shaped my work across embassies, NGOs, and policy networks focused on post-conflict development and regional cooperation. Now, I lead alumni programming for the YES/FLEX Abroad network at American Councils, supporting State Department exchange alumni across the U.S.I’m especially drawn to work that advances inclusive development, amplifies local perspectives, and strengthens regional ties through thoughtful, community-rooted engagement.
