ABOUT ALAN PORTER

I currently am an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist(ATSS) for the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA).I was previously the Network Engineer and Audio/Visual Specialist for the IT department at Southern Virginia University. I graduated from Southern Virginia University in the Computer Science Major with Minors in Math and Philosophy. I enjoy working with computers and solving issues. I have some background programming in Java, SQL, and Python. Other languages I have used include HTML, Javascript, PHP, C++, C#, assembly language H1, and MySQL. In 2020 I was certified as a Fiber Optic Installer and Fiber Optic Technician through ETA International. As a student I was an intern in the IT department at SVU and learned how to help others resolve issues with technology. I was also a mathematics tutor. In 20••••17 I was the President for the Robotics Club at SVU as well as the Chair for the ACM chapter at SVU. In the 20••••16 school year I was the Secretary to the the student body Executive Council. I am an avid Ham Radio(Amateur Radio) operator with a general license. I participate as a member of a local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). I also have skills in reading, math, and music. These help me to be better aware of other disciplines and how to work well with others. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and try to be active in serving in the community.
