ABOUT ALAN MONK

Alan practices general Corporate / Commercial and Securities law. He has a broad-based corporate / commercial practice which includes the preparation and negotiation of a variety of commercial agreements (including shareholders’ agreements, confidentiality agreements, employment agreements and other commercial contracts), incorporations, corporate compliance, corporate governance, and transactions including the purchase and sale of companies and assets. Alan’s Securities | Corporate Finance practice includes public and private financings, including brokered and non-brokered private placements and bought deals, initial public offerings, debt financing, and advising on continuous disclosure, corporate governance and regulatory and stock exchange compliance for public companies primarily listed on the TSX and the TSX Venture Exchange. Alan has also been involved in several mergers & acquisitions and restructuring transactions for both public and private company clients. He has extensive experience in negotiating, drafting and advising on agreements used in the exploration and mining industry (including option agreements, joint venture agreements and royalty agreements), advising on the purchase and sale of mining claims and preparing legal opinions in respect of mineral tenures located in British Columbia. Alan has been an Adjunct Professor of Mining Law at the University of British Columbia law school since 2009. Alan was recognized as “repeatedly recommended” by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and ranked in the “Who’s Who Legal - Canada” and “Best Lawyers in Canada” in the area of Mining Law.
