ABOUT ALAN BAIN

I am the Birmingham Office Director for Mott MacDonald working to ensure that our 500+ Birmingham staff have a safe, efficient and enjoyable working environment. I also provide support to our transport planning capabilities in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands as well as collaborating with multi-disciplinary colleagues across the business. I’m a Chartered Transport Planning Professional with over 30 years’ experience and provide advice across a range of disciplines within the transport planning sector comprising development planning and management, street and interchange design and transport modelling. I direct and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, planners, modellers and designers and Mott MacDonald\'s clients include a range of public bodies both local and national as well as private sector developers.I have a particular interest in the interface between transport planning and urban design and the importance of place, demonstrated by my postgraduate studies in urban design and the use of spatial data visualisation in understanding pedestrian movement in urban areas. I’ve been an Expert Panel Member at both Design South East and the Black Country Garden City.I also have an academic interest in the principles and practice of sports development.Specialties: Transport planning, street design, transport modelling, data analysis, infrastructure planning, urban regeneration, public consultation, business development, sport development principles and practice.Follow me on twitter @alanhbain
