About Dingtian Zhang

I am a Research Scientist at Meta Reality Labs Research, developing wearable sensing technologies that captures the nuances of human-world interaction. My research interests include ubiquitous/wearable sensing, novel computational materials, and human-computer interaction for seamless integration of human and computation.Prior to this, I was a Senior Scientist at Hyperfine creating human sensing and electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression technologies for the world\'s first portable magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. I received my Ph.D. from Georgia Tech. My thesis was at the intersection of material and human-computer interaction — self-powered light sensing surfaces that enable implicit activity detection and explicit interactions on everyday objects. My work explores the intersection of novel interaction techniques and flexible sensing materials, enabling self-powered input sensing and activity detection on the surface of everyday objects, with a track record of publications on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) conferences and peer-reviewed journals such as CHI, IMWUT, ISWC, TiiS, and npj Flexible Electronics, patents, and Distinguished Paper Award. For more details about my research/CV please check out: https://alandzhang.github.io/
