ABOUT ALAN COLVILLE
I help complex organisations make sense of services, align teams around what matters, and turn insight into clarity and deliverable change.I work as an independent senior advisor to leaders in complex organisations where progress is slowed by competing priorities, unclear ownership, and the challenge of turning strategy into action. My role is to create a clear, shared understanding of how services operate end-to-end, so teams can make better decisions and move forward with confidence. My approach is service-led. I bring together user needs, journeys, and organisational realities to make complexity visible, identify where things break down, and focus effort on the areas that will have the greatest impact. This creates the clarity needed to align teams, prioritise effectively, and build momentum where responsibility is spread across multiple functions.A key part of my work is helping organisations move from clarity into action. I translate insight into focused, testable interventions, whether through pilot initiatives, alpha phases, or structured delivery plans. This ensures work leads to practical outcomes rather than remaining at analysis or strategy.Increasingly, this includes helping organisations apply emerging capabilities such as AI within real services, ensuring they support user journeys and deliver value across the whole experience rather than as isolated tools. My background is in service transformation and strategic change, grounded in Human–Computer Interaction and over twenty years of experience across higher education, financial services, government, and arm’s-length bodies.Alongside advisory work, I mentor and coach leaders and teams, helping them build the confidence and capability to lead change in complex environments. This is brought together through the Colville Academy, where learning is embedded in real organisational challenges.Outside of work, I spend a lot of time on bikes and in the mountains. Endurance sport continues to shape how I think about complexity, resilience, and focus, and how I show up in my work.
