ABOUT ALANA MUNRO

People are my passion. Witnessing the stark disparities in health and wellbeing outcomes within my own family, owing to poverty and other structural inequalities, has fueled my desire for cause-driven work that makes a difference. These ethos of service, empathy and community have guided my career to date. I am a public health policy professional with experience advising government, private and charity organisations in Australia, Pacific Islands, South Asia and the UK, and developing national health policy on behalf of the Australian Government. My policy areas include sexual and reproductive health, menstrual health, disability and preventive health. My approach is underpinned by diversity and inclusion principles to strive for a society where everyone is included and can have equal opportunities to live the lives they wish to lead. I was awarded Dean\'s Scholar at the University of Sydney, and hold a Bachelor of Health Sciences (first place), and a Master of Philosophy (Medicine and Health). My Masters research investigated the menstrual health experiences of university students globally and impacts on their education. My work has been published in peer-review journals, cited in the Australian media, and circulated internationally to contribute to the global menstrual health movement. My reputation as a dedicated, astute and compassionate professional is met with a sincere and genuine knack for building and maintaining trusting stakeholder relationships to advance meaningful shared outcomes at all levels. I am currently on extended travel leave, both volunteering and adventuring across Europe. London is where I am based, but Australia is my home. I am humbled and honoured to have learnt, worked and served on Eora and Ngunnawal Country.
