ABOUT ALANA JAMES
I work and conduct research within higher education. My research, scholarship, and practice are especially focused upon wellbeing amongst university students, and in particular the experiences and support needs of students who have disabilities and/or who are neurodiverse.At the University of Reading, I Co-Chair the university Committee on Student Experience and Development and am on the Governance Group for a project on reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a University Teaching Fellow (University of Reading Award).My teaching in Psychology includes research methods and analysis, and I co-wrote the textbook Understanding Quantitative and Qualitative Research in Psychology: A practical guide to methods, statistics and analysis (Oxford University Press). In 2019 I won the Higher Education Psychology Teacher of the Year Award (BPS DART-P/OUP).
