ABOUT ALAN WARD
Throughout my time at Zinkworks, I’ve taken on roles of increasing responsibility, driven by my eagerness to learn and challenge myself. I began as a Recruitment Consultant, later leading the Recruitment Team before stepping into the role of Recruitment Manager. When I transitioned from Recruitment Management into Account Management(Engineering Manager), I drew heavily on the experience and understanding I’d gained from recruiting software engineers — knowledge that gave me valuable insight into technical skill sets, team dynamics, and client needs. This foundation allowed me to successfully manage a team of Engineers for one of our key clients and eventually expand to oversee multiple teams. For eight months, I took on the role of Delivery Director, gaining invaluable experience in client relationship management, team leadership, and project delivery. My rapid progression reflects both my confidence in my abilities and my commitment to continuous growth.I currently serve as an Engineering Manager / Account Manager, leading a team of 40+ people across multiple projects. In this role, I work closely with each team member through weekly one-on-one check-ins to support their career development, address challenges, and ensure alignment with both personal and project goals. I am serving as the central point of coordination between stakeholders and engineering teams to maintain clarity, momentum, and successful project execution.I’m responsible for managing the team’s day-to-day delivery, ensuring workloads are balanced and priorities are clear. Using Jira, I monitor sprint progress, ticket flow, and key metrics to maintain visibility into performance, identify potential blockers, and drive continuous improvement. This hands-on approach allows me to stay connected with both the technical and personal aspects of the team — ensuring that delivery targets are met while fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and open communication.
