ABOUT ALAN TRAINOR

A semiconductor executive with over 20 year of experience, working both in Europe and North America. Experienced in leading multiple teams across different product lines and different locations. Execution orientated, with a full knowledge of the complete product design cycle, from identifying the team and product requirements, through each level of design, verification, qualification and manufacture. Has a very strong product focus, and holds a number of patents for work done in analogue, mixed signal and RF IC design for high-speed telecoms, RF/microwave and optical networking product developmentCurrently Vice President of Engineering with Semtech Corp, following acquisition of Gennum Corp.(for around $500 million) in March 2012, and the previous acquisition of Nanotech Semiconductor by Gennum (for around $40 million) in April 2011. Joined Nanotech Semiconductor in June 2009. Currently responsible for 5+ design centres specialising in advanced analogue and mixed signal ICs for fibre-optic communication products from 155Mbps to 100Gbps using both CMOS and SiGe BiCMOS technologies.Prior to Nanotech, was Senior Director of Engineering at SiGe Semiconductor (taken over by Skyworks Corp for around $250 million), responsible for a number of design teams in Europe and North America developing ICs and front end modules for WLAN/WiFi/WiMAX/BT power amplifiers and LNAs, cable tuners and GPS radio receivers for computing, entertainment devices and cell phones using a number of different silicon and GaAs technologies with multiple fabs. 100’s of millions of products shipped. Joined SiGe Semi in Feb 2002.Career started at Nortel Networks, where for over 10 years, worked on and then managed many IC and system developments in RF and optical products for the telecommunications industry. Holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree with Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
