ABOUT ALAN SLEDD

I have always lived at the tip of the spear of new manufacturing development, and now, I\'m on to a new project as a consultant and writer helping as many as I can make the difficult journey into manufacturing.I started my career as one of five founding members of Tesla\'s Manufacturing Engineering team — learning by fire hose across Roadster, OEM powertrains, and the Model S launch.After Tesla, I took some time to collect myself and travel, started my own business and learned everything that had to offer (including how much I don\'t like working alone). Returning to manufacturing, I spent 5.5 years at Amber Kinetics, a flywheel energy storage startup. There, I built a team and led the creation and deployment of the manufacturing system for their first product, the M32, including the bring-up of a team and factory in the Philippines. From there, I spent 4 years building out Form Energy\'s pilot manufacturing facility and team at its design HQ followed by building out its Pack manufacturing line and team at its first factory. In life, I am determined to help humanity face its greatest challenges, build great connections with people, and have a good time doing it. I am a Mechanical Engineer, a Manufacturing Engineer, and a Manager, and these are products of a deeper love for making useful things and solving interesting problems with like-minded people.If you\'re a hardware startup trying to figure out how to get from prototype to production, reach out — I\'d love to talk.
