ABOUT ALAN R.
With over 13 years\' project and framework management experience, Alan is a capable and skilled civil engineer having worked on both private and public maritime, flood defence, energy and bridge schemes. He is currently managing frameworks and projects within the public-sector, studying for a Project Managers Qualification (PMQ) and acting as Professional Reviewer for incoming members of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).Alan was technical advisor to the British Antarctic Survey (BAS); assisting on the redevelopment of marine infrastructure associated with the RRS Sir David Attenborough. Within this role he produced preliminary designs, written contract documentation, reviewed target cost design submissions and supervised the design & construct stages. He worked closely with stakeholders to establish and validate requirements across a wide stakeholder profile. He upheld a collaborative working relationship during planning and on-site supervision within Antarctica. During this secondment in BAS, Alan developed a Master Schedule and Programme Plan as well as co-authoring the NEC4 Framework Information and assisting procurement of the Construction Partner and Common Data Environment.Alan\'s technical expertise range from feasibility through to detailed design and construction supervision; including, UK FLOW Ports assessment, Lowestoft Barrier, Dover Western Dock Revival, Aberdeen Nigg Harbour, Hammersmith Flyover Phase 2, British Antarctic Survey AIMP, renewable energy schemes and more recently Environment Agency schemes. His specialty is in port civil structures such as quay retaining walls, boat launching facilities, mooring foundations and revetments. Alan is cognisant with DMRB, British Standard and Eurocode design standards, designing to a variety of materials such as steel, concrete, timber and composite structures.Alan is keen and enthusiastic, successfully becoming chartered with the ICE in September 2019 and currently a Professional Reviewer for incoming ICE members. He is currently working towards chartership with the Association of Project Managers (APM).
