About Alan Orlob

Alan Orlob is the Chief Executive for the Orlob Group, an advisory and consultancy group based in Newport Beach, California. In his capacity, he consults with businesses and governments on crisis management, travel security and how entities identified as “soft targets” can protect themselves. He has been a prolific speaker in venues worldwide, both for private organizations and for government groups. Alan has been interviewed by most major media organizations, both in the U.S. and abroad. He has written several published articles on how organizations can protect themselves against terrorism.Alan recently retired as the Vice President of Global Safety and Security for Marriott International where he served for 35 years.Prior to working for Marriott, Alan was the corporate security director for Al Ghanim International, managing a close protection detail. He served with U.S. Army Special Forces, both active and reserve for a total of 24 years. Mr. Orlob is the former president of ISMA, the International Security Management Association. He is the the chairman of the Orange County Homeland Security Advisory Council, an initiative with the Orange County, California Sheriffs Department. He has served as a consultant with the U.S. State Department’s Anti-terrorism Assistance Program on hotel security and was a stakeholder on a RAND initiative on counter-surveillance. Following the Mumbai terror attacks, Mr. Orlob testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security in January, 2009 and testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security in 2015. Mr. Orlob is a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy and is a member of the Senior Advisory Group to the U.S. State Department’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). He was a cofounder of the Global Security Advisory Group to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). In 2013, Mr. Orlob was selected by Security Magazine as one of the security industry\'s \"Most Influential Leaders\" and in 2017, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Hospitality Law.
