About Akshay Tarfe

I am a global campaigner with a diverse skill set. My more than 7 years of experience in advocacy, public policy, research, campaigns, and communication enables me to design agile programs, digital-first media products and low/no tech outreach solutions. Although my expertise is sector-agnostic, I specialise in advocating for universal public services, gender justice, the right to education and health, progressive taxation and combating wealth inequality. I am passionate about advancing labour rights, gender justice, food sovereignty and land justice. I actively volunteer for people\'s movements, feminist collectives and progressive networks all over the world, which keeps me connected to grassroots developmental challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked with government, semi-government and non-government organisations in various capacities. This exposure uniquely positions me to provide customised strategy, stakeholder management, communication, campaign, policy, and capacity-building advisories. My rich expertise and skillset are built upon a strong academic foundation. I hold two Bachelor\'s degrees in Geography and Political Science from the University of Mumbai. I also hold a Master\'s Degree in Communication and Journalism from K.C. College, one of India\'s top media institutes. Currently, I am pursuing an Executive Programme in Public Policy and Management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), ranked amongst the world’s top 50 to pursue Business and Management Studies by QS World University Rankings. I also continue to upskill myself and expand my professional network through short-term training and capacity-building programs. I recently completed Oxfam\'s Campaigns, Advocacy and Influencing Leadership Programme (CALP), a year-long international program that inculcates feminist leadership principles and hones essential skills to implement global campaigns. Prior to that, I participated in Global Organising School (GOS) by Fight Inequality Alliance, meant to expand my capacity as an anti-inequality advocate. My national advocacy capabilities have enhanced significantly after I completed a workshop on advocacy and law-making titled \'Reading, Drafting and Understanding Laws\' by Maadhyam, a civic engagement initiative. Here are some of my published op-eds and analyses in national and international media- https://linktr.ee/akshaytarfe
