About Akshay Pai Raikar
I graduated with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Controls, Robotics and Mechatronics at the University of Washington - Seattle in June 2019. Prior to this I had successfully completed my undergraduate education with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani - Goa. Being a quick learner and avid reader, I grasp complex concepts by making use of multiple relevant resources to work on hands-on projects. I continue to develop my professional skillset through a series of stimulating internships as well as course projects related to Control, Computer Vision/Machine Learning and Mechatronics. Since Jan 2020 I have been employed as a Controls Software and Test engineer at Kenworth Truck Co. in an R&D capacity to develop Fuel Cell Electric trucks. I have been involved in the development of supervisory control algorithms and system integration of fuel cell powertrain and auxiliary components and their subsequent testing and validation. In the Summer of 2018, I had the opportunity to work at PACCAR Technical Centre as an ADAS Engineering Intern for Visual Localization in Autonomous Vehicles. Through my contribution, I was able to work on impactful projects pertaining to AI and Robotics that will directly influence the commercial and personal vehicle transportation space. I strive to utilize my academic and practical knowledge in these fields and actively contribute to the development of meaningful solutions and products in the fields of robotics and autonomous vehicles.
