ABOUT AKSHAY BHOITE
My exposure into the development sector started when I started a social group at secondary school, which supported children who had lost their farmer fathers due to suicide. Suicides of farmers in my home state of Maharashtra were on the rise due to the slowing economy at the time. So it was this experience that drove me to study Economics for my undergraduate degree. Studying Economics taught me more about how our socioeconomic system works, the key drivers of this system and how this then effects individuals on a micro level. I particularly enjoyed learning about globalisation and development as it gave me an insight into the deep rooted problems India faces. But after working on the ground in development, I recognise that I only touched the surface with this topic.
