As a Mechanical Engineer in the Planning Department of Indian Railways\' Production Unit, my primary role involves the planning and procurement of furnishing items required on the shop floor for various coach variants. This process is carried out in accordance with the latest designs and drawings issued by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO). I am responsible for monitoring the inventory of these items and placing demands with suppliers in case of shortages. Coordination with firms is crucial to ensure timely delivery of materials, allowing for uninterrupted production. Additionally, I ensure that all procured materials comply with the latest standards and specifications set by RDSO, facilitating smooth and efficient manufacturing of coaches as per latest production programs.
