Working under Dr. Jiusheng Yan and Dr. Guanxing Chen, I performed a drug screening on over FDA-approved drugs in HEK 293 cells via the Promega NanoBiT kit. The goal of this screening was to identify strong inhibitors of LRRC8A, which could have future therapeutic applications in neuropathic pain diseases. My procedure involved cell culture, plasmid transfection, plate reading, and data analysis. In total, we identified 9 promising drug candidates, 1 of which is on track towards future FDA submission.
