About Arup Ghosh
Dr. Ghosh is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. His research lies at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Youth, and Social Science. As the director of the Human-Technology Interaction Research Lab (HTIR Lab), Dr. Ghosh leads efforts to explore how humans interact with technology, aiming to develop solutions that positively impact society. A significant focus of his research is mobile online safety for adolescents, providing actionable insights to researchers and designers to foster healthier parent-teen relationships. By employing a value-sensitive design approach and integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) perspectives, his work advances strategies for enhancing online safety for teenagers and improving the overall digital experience.Dr. Ghosh has authored numerous peer-reviewed research papers, including several first-author contributions at ACM\'s esteemed conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI). His work was recognized as one of the University of Central Florida’s top 10 research findings of 2018 and has been highlighted in major media outlets, including ABC News, NPR, Business Standard, Science Daily, and Security & Privacy.Dr. Ghosh brings extensive experience to both undergraduate and graduate education, teaching a variety of courses in Computer Science, Information Technology, AI, and HCI at both introductory and advanced levels. He has been honored as the Educator of the Year by the Engineering Council of Birmingham and Alabama. Furthermore, he played a key role in founding the Jax State Student Branch in 2023 and currently serves as an advisor for both the Student Branch and the UPE Honor Society Student Chapter.My research focuses on the following: Primary: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Social Computing, Digital Youth, Online Safety, and Privacy Secondary: Patient-Centered Health Technologies, Systems Biology, Cyber-Physical Systems, Model Validation, Constraint Solving, Stochastic Systems, and Agent Based Modeling
