About Akash Pallath
I am a PhD candidate in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, affiliated with the Patel Group at the Penn Institute for Computational Science. I am experienced in applying scientific computing, data analysis, and machine learning techniques to solve complex interdisciplinary research problems. My doctoral research focuses on characterizing the role of hydration in the interactions and conformational behavior of hydrated polymers, proteins, and extended hydrophobic surfaces.Beyond academia, I actively engage in the business side of the biotech industry and life sciences consulting. I co-led the development of the go-to-market strategy of a startup based on our lab\'s research — now called Protein Design Solutions, LLC — successfully navigating the challenging NSF I-Corps and Penn I-Corps accelerator programs. As a pro-bono consultant at the Penn Biotech Group (PBG), I have used data-driven insights to advise clients in pharmaceuticals, biotech, and venture capital on market entry, strategy, and investment decisions.
