ABOUT AJAY MAITY

I am an AI engineer at Optum, UnitedHealth Group, Dublin since September 2018, part of Advanced Technology Collaborative (ATC) team within Optum, working with different horizontals across the company on the most challenging problems using emerging technologies on daily basis. My everyday in Optum involves any kind of coding (mostly in Python, although I have limited experience in C/C++ and Java), and the rest are meetings. The coding part of my day could involve performing exploratory data analysis using Numpy or Pandas; or working on machine learning models using scikit-learn; or Tensorflow, or building AI agents using the plethora of libraries available in Python. I have experience in both Computer Vision and NLP projects- where in NLP, I have worked on Neural Machine Translation from English to Spanish on medical documents preserving the formats of paragraphs, tables and lists; and in Computer Vision, I have worked on extraction of information from medical forms including checkbox detection and extraction; and clustering of document pages to identify the correct type of form. In addition, I have experience in exposing models as APIs and microservices, and deploying them in OpenShift and Kubernetes through a Jenkins CI/CD devops platform. I follow Agile methodologies and standards in the work everyday.Prior to Optum, I worked 2.5 years in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. in Mumbai, India on Big data, Machine Learning and Visualizations. Few of my prominent projects include Recruitment and Staffing solution using Python and IBM Watson; Smart E-Mail using Tensorflow; and OmniChannel Retail Dashboard using Tableau/QlikView and MapR.I am an excellent team-player, and extremely conscientious to customer and stakeholder demands. I am also a quick learner, document all my work, and in my spare time, I work on Kaggle projects to stay up to date with current trends in technology in Data Science.I gained my M.Sc. degree in Computer Science (Intelligent Systems) from Trinity College Dublin and my B.E. in Electronics and Telecomminication Engineering from Mumbai University.My career goal is to become proficient in the domain of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
