It was a random evening in college when a thought hit me, what about marketing?There are two types of people: some know exactly what they want to do from the start, and others figure it out along the way. Funny enough, I think I’m a mix of both.As a kid, I always knew I wanted to create and build something, I just didn’t know what that something was. That college evening helped me connect the dots.I never imagined I’d end up in marketing. I pictured myself in fashion, entertainment, or the arts; anything that would let me create and tell stories. So when marketing showed up in my life, it genuinely surprised me.And honestly, I questioned it at first. Why marketing? Am I even good at it?But when I started reflecting, the dots connected.It was every time I came across a brilliant business no one knew about and felt frustrated that their story wasn’t being told.It was all those times I saw an ad or campaign and instinctively thought, “Oh, I would have done this to make it more creative or they should have communicated this way to connect better”It was that time when I was about to give a speech and I scrapped everything I’d prepared after observing how the audience responded to the speakers before me and spoke about something completely different that actually resonated with the audience.Looking back, marketing wasn’t some new discovery. It had always been there, so close I hadn’t seen it clearly.Since then, I’ve been following that thread. Learning, creating, experimenting, and finding new ways to bring ideas to life and telling new stories. Each step has brought me closer to the purpose I always felt as a kid.I’ve come to believe that careers and callings are dynamic. The core stays the same, but the shape it takes evolves.For me, that core is creativity.And marketing is how I bring it to life.I’m still figuring it out as I go and that’s the part I love most.I get to create, connect, and contribute meaningfully through my work, shaping ideas that help others grow, while growing myself along the way.
