About Aisha Hasan
I am an Oncologist, and a bone marrow transplant physician, with expertise in adoptive cellular therapies. During my academic career, I studied various aspects of T cell biology relating to clinical application in adoptive cellular therapies. I translated discoveries from bench to bedside in phase 1 and 2 clinical trials investigating adoptive T cell therapies to treat cancer and infections. In addition, in the transplant clinic, I focused my efforts on expanding the use of haploidentical bone marrow transplantation, and further evaluated the infectious morbidity in patients receiving HLA mismatched transplants and how this can be improved with donor derived adoptive T cell therapies. My research has been applied to develop unique algorithms to select patients for T-cell therapy based on inherited HLA polymorphisms. I have been selected as chief during both my residency and fellowship programs, which helped develop leadership skills and experience leading large teams. This experience has enabled me to be a quick problem solver, proficient at developing and presenting concepts, and be a strategic thinker to apply the science in appropriate disease settings. My experience has allowed to to hone the skills of critical thinking, innovation, and leadership, with which I am now uniquely poised to evaluate novel immunotherapies for a wider impact against cancer.
