Role: Promote patient and staff safety, striving to improve quality of care, reduce liability exposure for the organization and ensure regulatory readiness as follows:• Lead investigations into adverse events, near misses and patient complaints relating to clinical care• Coordinate root cause analyses to identify system failures and recommend corrective actions• Assess for trends, including emerging clinical and non-clinical risks• Advise senior leadership on key findings, data trends and metrics• Deliver training on incident reporting and investigation, risk mitigation and safe practices• Demonstrate compliance and process of continuous improvement to internal leadership and regulatory agencies• Assist in policy and procedure development, system upgrades and adopting standardized work practices• Coordinate with legal counsel on malpractice claims• Support and mentor clinical, administration and hospital departments in quality improvement efforts• Develop and promote a culture of safety across the organization• Collaborate with quality, safety and regulatory teams for a cohesive approach to patient safety
