At the Brain Organization for Language and Literacy Development (BOLD) Lab, led by Dr. Kaja Jasińska, I support research on how early life experiences shape children’s brain development and learning outcomes. My primary responsibilities include participant recruitment and data collection for studies investigating language, literacy, and cognitive development in diverse populations, including bilingual, refugee, and socioeconomically disadvantaged children. I work closely with families and community partners to ensure ethical and effective engagement in research that combines neuroimaging and behavioral science methods.

ABOUT AIMAN RAMIZY

I am Aiman Ramizy, a third year life science student at University of Toronto, majoring in Global Health with minors in physiology and political science. My educational journey began in Kabul, Afghanistan, where I completed my high school education amidst the turbulent backdrop of the Taliban takeover. My account of those challenging times was featured in Malala Yousafzai\'s assembly, shedding light on the experiences of many like me who faced displacement and adversity. From a young age, I have been driven by a deep-seated commitment to effect positive change in my community. At just 11 years old, I contributed to the creation of a science-related booklet titled \"The World of Science for Kids and Juveniles,\" igniting a passion for knowledge dissemination and education.During my time in Afghanistan, I was actively involved in the Charity Club at my school, where I organized events such as Model United Nations and TED Talks, aimed at empowering my fellow students to explore and express their ideas freely. Additionally, I served as an advisor with the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization, contributing to initiatives focused on socio-economic development and legal reform.Currently, I hold the position of communication advisor with the World Anti-extremism Network, where I am dedicated to fostering dialogue and collaboration to combat extremism and promote peace globally. My current focus lies in driving change within my community and beyond, aligning my efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4, which aim to ensure healthy lives and promote quality education for all. Through my studies in Global Health and my various engagements, I am committed to making a meaningful difference in the world around me, striving for a future where equity, health, and education are accessible to all.
