Senior Skill Leader - Electronics @DCA Design International

As Senior Skill Leader I am responsible for DCA’s electronics service. I manage DCA’s electronics design procedures, recruitment, health and safety, the electronics lab, tools and equipment for electronics development, staff mentoring and performance reviews, training and development, budgeting, and strategically identifying new technologies and processes for investigation- I plan and control projects, setting and delivering to development budgets, setting project stage boundaries and managing development risk- Every project is new, generally requiring research into available technologies and the design and use of bespoke proof of principle rigs to evaluate a new technology before progressing to prototype design- I manage projects with interdisciplinary teams. I regularly work as the point of contact with customers from business functions other than engineering, relationship building and presenting project status at an appropriate level- I perform a supervisory role on projects involving electronics and software within DCA where I am not part of the core team: monitoring progress and giving the project manager a high-level overview of status, ensuring compliance with our quality procedures, assisting with particular issues where required and mentoring junior staff- I manage internal and external electronics/software/mechanical resource. I recruit and effectively employ contract resource when required. I maintain links with other senior staff in the company, advising them of the electronics and software effort required for new enquiries and assisting them with identifying appropriate project resource- I work with manufacturers, designing to their capabilities, planning production test and transferring designs to production- On each new project, I identify applicable standards and then distil these to product requirements, then manage testing and documentation to support the CE marking/regulatory compliance process.
