About Ahwaz Akhtar
I\'m an applied economist finishing a PhD at George Washington University (expected May 2026), with research spanning health economics, climate risk, financial outcomes, and education. My work uses causal inference, large administrative datasets, and geospatial methods to quantify how shocks and interventions shape health systems, household outcomes, and learning. At GWU I work as a health economics researcher and data analyst, studying topics ranging from the financial toxicity of climate shocks on U.S. healthcare markets to the impact of private equity acquisitions on clinical practice using Medicare claims data.I\'m a Fellow at the World Bank\'s Strategic Impact Evaluation Fund, where I work on applied evaluations of large-scale public programs for government and multilateral partners. In parallel, I co-founded the research and evaluation function at Taleemabad (an EdTech platform) where I\'ve led RCTs on teacher professional development in collaboration with J-PAL/MIT.Technical toolkit: Python, SQL, R, Stata, ArcGIS/QGIS. I\'m interested in roles where rigorous data work drives real decisions - particularly in healthcare analytics and evidence-based product development.
