About Ahmed Younis
Ahmed Younis, JD, PhD, serves as Chief of Staff at FairPlay AI. FairPlay is an AI enablement company that helps financial services partners build, test, optimize, validate, and govern AI models. It is the world’s first Fairness-as-a-Service company, offering AI-powered tools to assess automated decision systems. Ahmed’s career spans leadership in government, academia, and the private sector. During his tenure in the U.S. Department of State, he served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy (GEC), coordinating U.S. efforts to counter disinformation and propaganda from both state and non-state actors. Ahmed was a founding member of the Gallup World Poll scientific team, designing and executing global projects that applied behavioral economics to issues from youth unemployment to conflicts of mass violence. As Director of Strategic Partnerships and Spokesperson at Silatech, he co-created the Silatech Index for Youth Employment, the first comprehensive public opinion poll tracking youth employment trends across the Middle East. As a professor of education research and international law, Ahmed advised graduate research, and earned multiple teaching and research awards. He served as International Ambassador for Global Ethics & Social Justice for the Paulo Freire Democratic Project bringing the philosophy of critical pedagogy to Islam and the Muslim world. Ahmed was recognized among Arabian Business Magazine’s “500 Most Famous Arabs” and “500 PowerArabs” in 2011 and 2012, and also named by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre as one of the “500 Most Influential Muslims” between 2009 and 2011. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Washington & Lee University and a PhD in Critical Educational Theory from Chapman University.
