I am the lead Power BI specialist at Ideagen. All Power BI and Power Platform (i.e. Power Apps) related requests come directly to me.• Use of Jira to add epics, tasks, subtasks, bugs and stories into the backlog/ sprints (AGILE).• Varied reporting requests (Finance, Sales, Marketing).• Identifying report types i.e. Board packs or Operational sales reports.• Using SSMS to enhance views or lookup tables to facilitate Power BI reports.• Currently identifying SQL logic to translate existing congested views into Facts and Dims.• Use of ADF to build simple ETL pipelines (i.e. manual excel sheets imported into the warehouse).• I have a minimalist approach with my Power BI reports to ensure they can be easily digested by various stakeholders.• Created a Sharepoint Power BI index page accessible by the wider organization (global).• Workspace management (creating separate workspace for different use cases).• Created a Usage Metrics report for each workspace to monitor report usage (down to the page level). This allows for Power BI auditing for new and existing reports.• High level usage of DAX and M (Power Query) to ensure all reporting needs are facilitated. Ideally I prefer to ensure all calculations are eventually done at the SQL level – but some reports require stand alone DAX measures for dynamic calculations (i.e. running total per period or colour conditional formatting).• Use of company brand guidelines to ensure all reports are on brand with a clean and crisp UX/UI.• Always using Guy in a Cube or SQLBI to stay on top of new Power BI updates.
