I\'m interested in understanding the effect of data (real/synthetic) and objectives on memorization, generalization and robustness in (image/video/text) foundation models. I often use function geometry to analyze training dynamics, characterize models, and evaluate post-training behavior to improve the utility of NNs/generative models. One particular shortcoming for past work on function geometry is the lack of transferability of such theory to practical large-scale DNNs. My focus is towards developing theoretically inspired frameworks that can be used to analyze, visualize, characterize and improve even state-of-the-art billion parameter foundation models.
