ABOUT AHMED HELMY

Ahmed Helmy recently moved (after 17yrs) from the University of Florida (UF) to the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte to serve as the Associate Dean for Research at the College of Computing & Informatics (CCI).Ahmed Helmy\'s research interests include design, analysis & measurement of wireless adhoc, sensor & mobile social networks, mobility modeling, multicast protocols, IP mobility & network simulation. He has published over 200 journal articles, conference papers and posters, book chapters & IETF RFCs/IDs. His research is (or has been) supported by grants from NSF, Intel, Cisco, DARPA, NASA, Nortel, HP, Pratt & Whitney, Siemens & Silicon Graphics.Dr. Helmy is an Area editor of the Computer (\'10-), and the Adhoc Networks Journal - ElSevier (\'04-\'11). He is (or was) the general chair of ACM MSWiM \'11, honorary chair for IWCMC \'11, co-chair for ACM MobiCom CHANTS \'11, co-chair for ICST AdHocNets \'11, poster co-chair SECON \'11, general chair for ACM IWCMC \'10, track chair for MASS \'10, track chair, poster & Ph.D. forum chair for ICNP \'09, local arrangements chair for ICNP \'08, Infocom Global Internet (GI) workshop \'08, co-chair of MMNS \'06, and vice-chair for ICPADS \'06, and HiPC \'07. He was ACM SIGMOBILE workshop coordination chair (for MobiCom, Mobihoc, Mobisys, Sensys)(\'06-\'11). He served on numerous committees of & ACM conferences on networks. He is a Fellow of & Distinguished Scientist of ACM.Specialties: Computer Networking Research, Routing Protocol Design, Multicast (PIM) design team, Network Simulation, NS-2 design team, Mobility Modeling, Ad Hoc Networks, Sensor Networks, Mobile Network Measurements, Modeling and Analysis.
