About Ahmed Hasssan
As a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) Software Development Engineer at AMD, I focus on AI workload performance optimization within the ROCm software stack. My work centers on enhancing hardware efficiency across diverse, cutting-edge applications: accelerating training and inference for large language models (LLMs), vision-language models (VLMs), and vision-language-action (VLA) models that drive robotics and autonomous systems. By optimizing kernels, libraries, compilers, and system-level integrations, I help close the gap between theoretical peak performance and real-world throughput — making AMD accelerators more competitive for frontier AI research and production deployment. Background: Recent PhD graduate from Cornell University with deep technical expertise in 2D/3D computer vision and LLM architectures, training/inference, and hardware performance optimization.
Experience
Mts Software Development Engineer
Jun 2025 — Present · CO, US
Enhancing ROCm libraries/kernels for peak compatibility and performance on AMD Instinct accelerators.2. Building profiling, characterization, and evaluation tools tailored for PyTorch and JAX workflows to speed up benchmarking and insights.3. Leveraging agentic AI to extend performance characterization tools capabilities to efficiently analyze the performance of Inference specific workloads i.e. VLLM, SGLang, TRTLLM and ATOM. Collaborating with customers and internal teams to enable production-scale deployments, driving better hardware utilization and economics5. Enable SoTA AI architectures for peak AMD compatibility, significantly improving tokens/$ and deployment economics.
