At Mesa Associates, I support federally funded engineering projects in collaboration with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) by delivering specialized electrical power systems engineering services. My role is focused on analysis, design, coordination, and protection of power systems, ensuring both performance optimization and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities: • Performed load flow, short circuit, and arc flash studies using industry-standard tools (ETAP, EasyPower) to assess system conditions, identify electrical hazards, and recommend hazard mitigation strategies. • Provided detailed DC arc flash and short-circuit analysis for station battery systems, chargers, and inverters; delivered recommendations to reduce incident energy levels and ensure NFPA 70E compliance. • Conducted protection coordination studies and developed relay settings for microprocessor-based and electromechanical relays (SEL, ABB, Basler, GE), improving selectivity and eliminating mis-coordination risks. • Designed and reviewed one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for power distribution and protection systems, supporting system upgrades and replacements. • Developed technical reports outlining methodologies, assumptions, and conclusions of power system studies and presented findings to internal stakeholders and clients. • Supported the creation of arc flash labels by providing verified study results and settings to ensure safe operations across various TVA facilities. • Contributed to project planning by managing assigned tasks, tracking deliverables, and ensuring adherence to schedule, scope, and quality metrics.
