ABOUT AHMED ALMELDEIN
Computational Scientist | Multiphysics Modeling & Physics-Informed MLI work at the intersection of physics-based modeling and machine learning to transform complex simulations into efficient, predictive tools. My approach focuses on identifying the relevant physical phenomena in a system and applying the most appropriate modeling framework to enable scalable engineering solutions.Current Work (ORNL):• Fusion energy: ML-integrated OpenFOAM solvers for helium-cooled first-wall channels (≈20× speedup)• Combustion systems: Optimization of hydrogen-flexible industrial burners• Nanoparticle synthesis: Reduced-order PBM models (weeks → <1 hour)• Additive manufacturing: Modeling of coupled thermal-fluid and material processes (early-stage work)Research Background:• Physics-Informed ML (PhD): PINN & MoE architectures replacing chemical kinetics solvers (≈200× GPU speedup)• Data-driven combustion modeling (ANL): PCA & clustering for flamelet acceleration• Multiphysics systems: Nanofluid combustion (KAIST) and propulsion modeling (M.Sc.)My work is focused on enabling efficient simulation, design, and optimization of advanced energy and process systems.
