ABOUT AHMAD HILAL ABID
I am Ahmad Hilal Abid 23 years old an Afghan American Muslim youth and my passion for empowering underserved youth and families through education and personal freedoms, and fairness led me to immigrate to the United States from Afghanistan in 2018. As a facilitator and advocate, I am committed to fostering community engagement, equity in education, empowering marginalized and disadvantaged communities, and promoting social justice.During the Covid-19 pandemic, I founded the House of Wisdom program in my parents garage with 20 immigrant children to help them with school assignments and navigate the new culture. Through dedication and hard work, the House of Wisdom has now evolved into a nonprofit organization with a board of directors from verious backgrounds. We provide one-on-one tutoring to all students, create cultural introduction and community engagement events, and assist with finding immediate and advanced employment opportunities.My leadership extends beyond the House of Wisdom, as I have held many leadership positions in Edmonds College, working with numerous departments to address the needs of students. I have worked with diverse groups of students, including domestic students, international students, veteran students, and traditional and non-traditional students as a student leader. I am an advocate for making education accessible and affordable for students, having secured in funding programs that provide scholarships to Edmonds College through the Student Government of Edmonds College.My mission is to continue empowering all students especially from vulnerable communities and through education and workforce, as I believe in the transformative power of education in creating a more just society. Through my determined and ambitious community servant leadership, I hope to inspire others to join me in this mission to create a better future for us all.
