ABOUT AHIMSA GOVENDER

With a decade of experience in health policy across government, non-profit, and private sectors, I am a healthcare consultant, where I provide healthcare consulting services to clients across the public and private sectors on Medicaid issues. At Manatt, I provided consulting services to clients in the public sector on behavioral health and maternal health issues. I was also a senior policy analyst at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In this role, I developed multiple Presidents\' Budgets and worked with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the White House Office of Management and Budget on Medicaid budget and policy-related issues focused on behavioral health, drug pricing, equity, CMS Innovation Center Medicaid models, maternal health, and dually eligible individuals.My writings have appeared in the Center for Health Policy blog at the Brookings Institution and the National Academy of Medicine Perspectives on topics related to biomedical innovation, drug development, and on dually eligible beneficiaries. Among other recognitions and experiences, I was a White House intern in the Obama Administration, an Indicorps Fellow, and a Presidential Management Fellow at HHS. I also received a certificate of appreciation from the Acting Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources at HHS in recognition of my contributions to advancing health equity.Originally from Michigan, I earned my bachelor\'s degree from Michigan State University and my master\'s degree from The George Washington University - Milken Institute School of Public Health.
