About Ahad Chaudhry

Ahad Chaudhry grew up in Pakistan, where he witnessed extreme poverty. With support from his parents, Ahad focused on education as his way to make a difference. After completing his A-Levels with a 100% scholarship, he was admitted to Simon Fraser University (SFU) for engineering but soon switched to computing science after discovering his passion for programming.At SFU, a Data Science course sparked his interest in data, analytics, and machine learning, which led to a role at Environment Canada. There, Ahad developed web applications, data ingestion scripts, and machine learning models that significantly sped up team operations, reinforcing his drive for continuous improvement.While working part-time at Environment Canada, Ahad secured an internship at Activision, where he contributed to a real-time data pipeline processing terabytes of data from games like Call of Duty. This experience provided deep exposure to distributed systems and cloud computing, including scalable technologies like Kafka.Ahad later achieved his goal of joining Microsoft as a Software Engineer. At Microsoft, he has played a key role in personalizing Viva Insights for millions of users across products like Outlook and Teams. His work includes implementing novel Differential Privacy algorithms, improving engagement metrics by up to 4x through machine learning models, and optimizing cloud resources by streamlining workflows. His data pipelines and analyses have uncovered critical insights into user behavior, contributing to product enhancements. Ahad\'s latest project involves collaborating with Microsoft Research to bring causal insights for Copilot Analytics through state-of-the-art algorithms being applied at Microsoft scale. Ahad remains committed to his goal of having a global impact and helping others achieve theirs. He continues to improve himself daily and is open to supporting others on similar journeys.
