ABOUT AGNES WARD
Dr. Ward is a Licensed Psychologist, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Licensed Behavior Analyst. She is the Chief Clinical Officer at Macomb County Community Mental Health (CMH), which provides a wide variety of mental health treatment and support services to adults and children with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse treatment needs. As the leader of the first Trauma Informed Care Committee, she facilitated Macomb CMH in becoming a trauma informed system of care. She provides consultation to agencies seeking to become trauma informed, and has advised on process, procedures, as well as physical space/aesthetics to foster a safe environment for individuals served.Dr. Ward conducts a variety of trainings and educational workshops to clinical professionals, educators, and community groups on the effects of trauma across the lifespan, implementing a trauma informed system of care, eating disorders, human trafficking, and self-injury. She is a National Trainer for Mental Health First Aid, a course designed to give individuals the tools to assist others who may be developing a mental illness or a mental health or substance abuse crisis. She has served as a content expert to local newspapers and media on a variety of mental health topics. Her clinical specialty areas include treatment of trauma, post-partum depression, self-injury, and eating disorders. She has extensive experience with severe mental illness and working with patients in the hospital and out-patient setting.Dr. Ward is the author of Your Personality and You Journal: Prompts and Practices to Better Understand Yourself, Reflect, and Grow. This journal can help anyone trying to make meaningful changes in their life, overcome obstacles, or increase self-love. The exercises, prompts, and practices are designed to put advice into action and help readers on their journey of self-discovery and growth. She is also the co-author of Luke and Lily’s Jungle Journey, a children’s book that helps parents foster discussion on a number of important lessons for their children such as helping others, overcoming obstacles and fears, promoting friendships, and realizing that things may not always be what they seem.
