About Poonam Agarwal
As a Staff Scientist at the Stanford shared FACS facility, I design multicolor flow cytometry panels and operate/train users on different flow cytometers for analysis and sorting. Key instruments: BD FACSDiscover S8, BD FACSAria, BDFACSymphony, BD FACS LSRs, Quanteon, Penteon.As a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University, I worked on advancing the understanding of chromatin architecture and gene regulation in human health and disease. With over 12 years of research experience in industry and academia, I have developed a strong background in cell and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and stem cell differentiation. I optimized the delivery of large plasmids in cells to study the role of epigenetics in cell fate decisions, and characterize the protein profiles of conditioned media that maintain mammalian pluripotency. I also investigated the viral host-protein interactions in cardiovascular injury using human iPSCs and iPSC derived cardiomyocytes. I have contributed to multiple publications and book chapters, and received travel awards and scholarships for my work. Additionally, I mentor students, participate in grant writing workshops, and volunteer for outreach programs and non-profits. I am a driven, collaborative, and communicative researcher, and an avid ultra runner.
