About Arpita Ghosh
I did my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), New Delhi. My Ph.D. focussed on RNA Biology involving micro-RNAs and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and their secondary structures (mainly G-quadruplex), and how these secondary structures could be used as potential therapeutic targets in cancer. I did my postdoc as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow (IPDF) and following that as an ANRF National Postdoctoral Fellow (NPDF), from IIT Bombay. During my postdoc I laid the groundwork for the intersection between the field of lncRNAs and mechanobiology, elucidating how oncogenic lncRNAs can be mechano-sensing in nature and how that might cause the progression of cancers, stressing mostly on Glioblastoma. At NUCSER as an Assistant Professor and Scientist I am trying to understand the non-coding RNA biology in more deeper context to cancer and stem cells and how they are important in regulating cell fate or therapeutic outcomes.Apart from research, I enjoy Science communication and teaching in every form :)
