About Aftab S

I work at the intersection of DevOps, cloud-native systems, and observability. What started as curiosity has slowly turned into a habit of building, breaking, fixing, and explaining things along the way.My background is in Electronics and Communication, which means I did not exactly take the straight road into DevOps. Somewhere along that detour, I found my rhythm working with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ecosystems around them. I enjoy understanding how systems behave under pressure and figuring out how to make them a little more reliable and a little less surprising.Over the years, I have shared what I learn through blogs and talks. Writing helps me slow down and think clearly. Speaking does the opposite. It pushes me out of my comfort zone. I have spoken at multiple conferences and meetups across the country, mostly around cloud-native and observability topics, with one simple goal in mind. Make the ideas approachable, practical, and worth remembering.I am also deeply invested in community. I help organize meetups, show up to a lot of them, and have learned that some of the best learning happens between sessions and over casual conversations. Along the way, my contributions to the observability space earned me a global recognition from the Grafana community. It was one of those moments that quietly confirmed that consistent effort does add up.When I am not working, you will probably find me planning the next talk, thinking about a blog I should write but have not started yet, or having long conversations about tech, careers, or why something broke in production at the worst possible time.I believe good engineering is as much about people as it is about systems.    Delivered cloud native fintech solutions for a fortune 500 fintech Client on AWS, designing and operating scalable infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Env0 across multiple environments.Built and automated CI CD pipelines using Jenkins, Spinnaker, and Bitbucket to deploy containerized workloads on Amazon EKS and ECS Fargate with high availability.Provisioned and optimized Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS, including VPC networking, node groups, and autoscaling for production workloads.Led observability initiatives for Chronosphere, migrating monitoring assets from legacy platforms and translating WQL and SignalFlow queries into PromQL.Designed and optimized Grafana dashboards and PromQL queries to improve monitoring accuracy, performance visibility, and operational insights.Developed an internal Kubernetes Policy Management platform using Kyverno and jsPolicy to enforce security and compliance controls.Implemented end to end observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and exporters, and deployed a full stack AWS application integrating frontend and backend services.
