ABOUT AFSHIN SADRI
Afshin is the Global Director of the Asset Performance Management (APM) group at Hatch, where he leads efforts to enhance clients’ asset performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) through continuous inspection, monitoring, digital solotions, maintenance, and redesign mitigation. With over 20 years of experience as a consultant in non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT & E) of coarse-grained materials and structures—including concrete, refractories, wood, and rock—he has been deeply involved in the research, development, and refinement of various NDT & E techniques and instruments. His expertise spans stress and electromagnetic wave propagation methods such as ultrasonic through-transmission, pulse-echo, impact-echo, miniature seismic reflection (MSR), and short-pulse radar. Afshin is also the inventor and developer of the QuakeGuard/QuakeAlert earthquake early warning systems. For seven years, he led instrument development and management at Andec International Services Co. As Project Manager, he oversaw numerous field and laboratory evaluation projects, particularly in rock and soil mechanics and the non-destructive inspection of ferrous and non-ferrous furnaces. In addition to his technical work, Afshin has taught courses in NDT & E, geology, geophysics, and rock mechanics at both the University of Toronto (U of T) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), where he also supervised graduate research.
