About Adam Frye
I got my start in the world of engineering and manufacturing bouncing around different stations in a machine shop over summers at Ludlum Measurements in Sweetwater, TX: drill press, paint room, and sanding room. I moved on to cable assembly and eventually landed in the engineering library where I pulled blueprints, made instruction manuals, and got a chance to experiment in AutoCAD which led to me creating assembly drawings for instruments detecting nuclear radiation. In 1998 I went full-time at LMI as a PCB Designer where I even got to work on a new all-in-one main board for the popular Model 3.I moved to Sugar Land, TX in (shout-out to a Monster.com Super Bowl ad) where I initially took a contract position designing downhole, while-drilling PCBs for Schlumberger (SLB) in the Telemetry and Surveying group. A year later, I went permanent and stayed until 2020. I designed countless PCBs and MCMs for a lot of different tools, created a new global library in Altium, lead a team of designers, went around the world, lived and worked in India for a while, wrote some standards, developed processes, focused on quality, and learned just enough Python to make life easier sometimes. From 2020 to mid-2023, I worked for Amazon, Google, and Amazon again. In my last position at Amazon, I was the Senior Lead Librarian on Project Kuiper (now known as Amazon Leo). It was fantastic to be a part of a project developing satellites that will bring cat memes (and the rest of the internet!) to corners of the world that lack high speed access today. In 2023 I boomeranged all the way back to my hometown and the place that gave me my start: Ludlum Measurements. It was great to reconnect with so many of my mentors and see how the business has grown over the years.I\'ve met hundreds of incredible people along the way and have been fortunate to have a career thanks in huge part to everyone who saw potential, gave opportunities, shared knowledge, trusted me, and challenged me! Thank you all!
