   Growing up in Chicago, I understand what it is like to come from communities similar to those that students at Prosser come from. I grew up in the Hermosa and Belmont-Cragin communities and attended CPS schools in the area for elementary, middle, high school, and previously worked at Foreman High School as a College and Career Coach. The areas I come from historically have been plagued by various issues, but thankfully through mentorship at a high school and college level I was able to have figures that showed me my potential as a man of color. I plan to pay that forward as a school counselor at Prosser. I want to continue to build on the foundation that has already been laid down through my experiences as a Latino male from the city of Chicago. I understand that as a man of color, I am a unicorn in the counseling profession, and that lends itself to interesting opportunities when working with Spanish speaking populations. I hope to spark the minds of our black and brown youth, and empower them through their education.
