ABOUT AFFI BASSEY

A lover of God. Volunteer with Hope Fm and The Salvation Army charity shop. Highly skilled Content Creator, presenter and balanced moderator with more than 15 years of experience working on Radio, Digital and TV creating a platform for citizens to speak on different issues, ranging from governance, democracy, accountability, women, Youths, People with Disabilities and Inclusion of vulnerable groups, Human rights, Security and Justice reforms, among others. I have great interviewing and research skills which have been demonstrated in the live and recorded town hall meetings which hold appointed and elected officials and policy makers to account. I train and mentor radio and TV presenters, producers and reporters on production processes, main-streaming gender and disability inclusion into programming among other things. I have produced and presented contents that focus on how our target audience is affected by policies and changes in the economy and the impact on their way of life. These contents are designed to help the audience make informed choices. I am proficient in English with excellent oral and written skills. I do also speak and write the Nigerian Pidgin quite fluently, Other languages spoken are Yoruba, Ibibio, Efiok and Eket. I am interested in learning French, always had a love for it. While I can work independently with little or no supervision, I also have the ability to work in a multicultural environment, enjoy collaboration & teamwork and always excited and willing to learn new things and acquire skills. Interestingly, I had a brief stint as a sports journalist with Radio Nigeria\'s FM station in Abuja, just before joining BBC Media Action. It would be interesting for me as a broadcast journalist to evolve in the different areas of journalism and practice in diverse communities and culture. I love volunteering, and my passion is women and youths. I am always willing and available to use my skills and experiences to impact lives through the media. And I am highly skilled working with sound and picture editing software, with good Social Media skills too (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). Love reading, traveling, cooking, hiking.
