ABOUT ANDREW G. FARRAND
Crossing borders shouldn\'t require lowering your standards. For over 15 years, I have helped companies, organizations, and governments achieve success in so-called challenging contexts across the Middle East and Africa. Straddling linguistic and cultural barriers, I translate the politics, economics, and business environments of these countries to make the illegible legible and help deliver world-class results.I am Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Horizon Engage, a political risk consultancy focusing on the energy and natural resources sectors. I also serve as a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and a leading researcher on the energy transition in North Africa. I publish frequently on current events in the region and have been quoted in diverse global outlets including the Associated Press, Bloomberg, S&P Global, The Guardian, The New Yorker, Süddeutsche Zeitung, The Independent, National Geographic, and more.I am the author of The Algerian Dream (2021), translator of Inside the Battle of Algiers (2017), and a contributor to three guidebooks on Algeria.
