ABOUT ANDRE ERLER

I am a climate scientist at Aquanty Hydrosphere Analytics in Waterloo. My main expertise is in high-resolution hydro-climatological modeling and statistical analysis, both, in the context of climate change and real-time forecasting. I graduated with a PhD in Climate Physics from the University of Toronto in 2015; since I\'ve also acquired extensive experience in hydrology, remote sensing, numerical weather prediction. The application of machine learning in Earth sciences is also a passion of mine and I co-host the Environmental Data Science discussion group at aggregate intellect.I am most interested in problems that require rigorous quantitative analysis and serious computing, but also address global challenges, such as sustainable development, climate change adaptation, energy and food security.I have over 10 years of experience performing numerical experiments in HPC environments, working primarily in Linux; I also have extensive experience in programming, data analysis, and visualization in Python.Through the Graduate Professional Skills program and extensive teaching experience in environmental science courses, as well as interactions with clients and stakeholders, I have developed strong communication and interpersonal skills. I enjoy working in highly inter-disciplinary teams, such as the team at Aquanty.
