About Anthony Hurley

Anthony has over 45 years working in the utility sector. He celebrated 37 years with a Fortune 200 corporation, serving in management roles for five (5) of their electric utilities in three states (OH, PA and NJ). He retired in 2017 as VP of Operations for an electric utility that served 1.1 million customer meters, where he managed an operations workforce of 1,250 professional and represented employees. Post-retirement, as a Consultant, he has worked with Critical Infrastructure, Private and Public, Government, Territorial and Tribal entities across the continental United States, Alaska, Canada, throughout the Caribbean and the Middle East. He has responded to countless thunderstorms, tornados, ice storms, and snowstorms in OH, MI, KY, MD, NJ, WV, PA, KY, GA, and SC. Hurricane deployments include Isabel (NJ), Francis (FL), Ivan (FL & AL), Katrina (LA), Rita (TX), Irene (NJ) and Sandy (NJ), Harvey (TX), Irma and Maria (U.S. Virgin Islands), and Fiona (Puerto Rico). Emergency Management credentials include completion of the FEMA Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP), FEMA Master Continuity Practitioner, FEMA Advanced Professional Series (APS), and is a FEMA Certified Instructor of the Incident Command System (ICS). He is an Adjunct Instructor for the FEMA Emergency Management Institute (EMI), and the NYU School of Professional Studies. Serves on the Planning Committee of the National Hurricane Conference (NHC), and Chairs that organizations Critical Infrastructure, and the Homeland Security (All Hazards) Committees. Physical Security training includes the ASIS coveted ‘Triple Crown’ board certifications as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), and Physical Security Professional (PSP). To promote the effective design of facility campuses, he has completed landscaping and CPTED courses. Prior to his utility retirement, Hurley served as Vice Chair of the Infrastructure Advisory Committee (IAC), and Energy Sector Chair of the NJ Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness. He served as a member of the NJ Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Electric & Gas Security Working Group as well. He formerly served as Chair of the ASIS International Utilities Security Council (USC), Chair of the Austin (TX) ASIS Chapter (and Chapter Certification Committee).He has received specialized emergency management and terrorism training from the FBI, USDHS, UN and FEMA. He is an alumni of the FBI Citizens Academy, and is a Fellow with the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (F.ISRM).
