The Texas Broadband Development Office (BDO) is a quasi-state agency housed with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. The BDO was created in 2021 through Texas House Bill 5 (Txlege 2021). This office awards grants, low-interest loans and other financial incentives to internet service providers who expand access to broadband service in underserved areas. The BDO also provides a variety of tools and resources supporting the expansion of broadband access across Texas.My accomplishments so far-Co-designed Texas\'$3.3 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) grant program with over grant applicants to bring universal broadband access statewide, developing guidelines, eligibility criteria, and evaluation metrics-Manage a $18M contract coordinating broadband grant monitoring across all infrastructure projects, including oversight of deliverables, financial reviews, and technical assistance-Oversee $500.5M in grant funding awarded to three state agency grantees, ensuring compliance and performance through ongoing communication, reporting, and risk mitigation-Led a multi-agency permitting workshop with 7 state agencies to map regulatory requirements for broadband deployment and inform interagency collaboration strategies.
